Hunt Valley Then To The Road For A Great Cause

This Saturday afternoon, our friends at Supercars on State Street will be presenting their annual car show at the Pennsylvania State Capital Building in Harrisburg to benefit the Making Strides Foundation of the American Cancer Society, with a direct focus on making strides against breast cancer.  If you have participated in the past as a show car owner or as a spectator, you know that this is an event that must be experienced.

As automotive enthusiasts, we’re all part of an extended family that crosses generations of people, marques of automobiles and state lines.  As a result, the organizers, participants and automobiles of Supercars on State Street may be recognizable to a few of us in Hunt Valley.  It’s the extension of support for honorable causes and organizers that are doing things for the right reasons that brings our region of automobile enthusiasts together as one of the best in the nation.  In fact, if you were present at the Spring Edition of Chesapeake Concours, many of our parking volunteers were brought in from Supercars on State Street.  Excellent people.

While walking the streets surrounding the State Capital, you’ll see rows of beautiful and diverse automobiles.  I find the event to be fantastic locale to meet old friends and new people, to tie in some vital walking time and to enjoy the sights of the automobiles, the government buildings and the surrounding waterways.  A very nice getaway.

For spectators, the show is open from 12 PM to 5 PM. Set your GPS to 200 State Street in Harrisburg.  When you’re within a block or two, you’ll see the parking directors managing the flow of spectator vehicles around the show perimeter.  This is where you start keeping your eyes peeled for nearby parking options.  You may find metered on-street parking but there’s also a free parking option on City Island's North Lot.

You’re welcome to join the caravans that will be departing from this Saturday’s gathering in Hunt Valley.  The caravans will form in front of Joe’s Crab Shack.  The show vehicle caravan departs at 8:30 AM and the spectator caravan departs at 10:30 AM.  A show participant will oversee the early caravan and I’ll be leading the spectator caravan.  You’re welcome to join either cruise.  Our gathering goes on as scheduled so we hope to see you in Hunt Valley and maybe in Harrisburg!
